Power and Cartwright is a long established law firm located at Gympie in Queensland, Australia. Gympie is situated at the northern extremity of Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. The firm traces its history back to 1875 when the Hon F I Power MLC commenced practice in Gympie. The firm’s modern history commenced in 1957 and it was first constituted under its current name when Jack Cartwright went into partnership with Frank Power. The firm presently has one legal practitioner director and four employed solicitors. Smithfield Chambers, the home of Power and Cartwright, was named after the famous Smithfield Mine located at the local area called ‘One Mile’. The mine is long gone and today in its place are the ‘One Mile’ school and the expansive ‘One Mile’ community soccer and cricket fields. Smithfield Chambers was Heritage Listed in July 2011.
